Congress Deuba Faction Abandons Plans for Separate Party, Opts for Unity
In a recent meeting of the Nepali Congress faction led by former acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka (representing the Sher Bahadur Deuba camp), voices advocating for the formation of a separate political party have faded. Following the Supreme Court's decision to validate the special general convention that elected Gagan Thapa as the party president, the majority of the Deuba faction's leaders have chosen to critically accept the verdict and remain within the party. Leaders have shelved plans for a separate party or a parallel 15th general convention, deciding instead to push their political agenda—such as active membership issues and statute amendments—through upcoming central and provincial gatherings while striving for honorable party unity.
